פרופ' מן המניין במדור הפרהיסטורי, במכון לארכיאולוגיה. תחומי המחקר שלי הינם התפתחות חברות ציידים-לקטים ניידים והמעבר ליישוב קבע וכלכלה של חקלאות ומרעה במזרח הקרוב (במהלך פרק הזמן שבין 50,000 ל-6,000 שנה לפני זמננו); הקיום הפרהיסטורי באיזורים צחיחים; יחסי אדם- סובב; חקר רצף ההפקה של כלי צור מסותתים.

ניהל סקרים וחפירות פרהיסטוריות בנגב ובסיני (שחלקם מתקיים עדין) כמו גם בחלקים אחרים של דרום הלבנט. לאחרונה סיים פרויקט רב-שנתי של חפירות באתר ששימש לקבורה ופולחן במהלך תקופת הניאולית הקדומה בכפר החורש. משתתף בפרויקט שכותרתו "דת כבסיס לכוח ורכושנות בציויליזציות ראשוניות"  בצ'טל היוק, מרכז תורכיה, המנוהל על ידי א. הודר (אוניברסיטת סטנפורד, ארה"ב). כמו גם בפרויקט "ניאולית קדום באתרAşikli Höyük " בקפדוקיה, תורכיה בראשות מ. אוסבסראן (אוניברסיטת איסטנבול) כאחד מהמנהלים (יחד עם נ.קאווסאן, מ. אוסבסראן ו-ג. דורו) של "מחקר וסקר במחוז Aksaray, קפדוקיה – המעבר מחיי נוודות של צייד-לקט לאורח חיים של ישיבת קבע".

פרויקטים

  • כפר החורש -  עיבוד ופירסום של 17 עונות חפירה באתר קבורה ופולחן – ניאולית קדם קרמי ב' (10,500-9,250 שנה לפני זמננו).
  • בשור עליון 6 -  חפירות באתר נאטופי קדום (לפני כ-15,000 שנה) בנגב המרכזי.
  • מערת נחל אזגד – חפירות באתר נאטופי קדום (לפני כ-15,000 שנה) בדרום מדבר יהודה.
  • קפדוקיה, תורכיה – "מעבר מאורח חיים נוודי של צייד ולקט לאורח חיים של ישובי קבע (25,000-8,000 שנה לפני זמננו).
