Subject: Intentional retouch vs. incidental edge modification on flint flakes: a case study from 'Ubeidiya, Israel
The project aims to identify and distinguish between intentional retouch and incidental edge modification on flint flakes caused by post-depositional taphonomic processes and/or bipolar-on-anvil knapping. Using the Early Pleistocene site of 'Ubeidiya, Israel, as a case study, this project studies intentional retouch as a proxy for increased technical skills and cognitive behaviors in dispersing hominins.
